✮Must read- how use the OT Wizard correctly and as a standardized tool
The O.T. Wizard is a standardized administration evaluation tool when the directions for questions and included assessments are followed by the OTP. The directions must also be followed for device usage. The O.T. Wizard has several unique assessments that will be normed for use in the future.
When the O.T. Wizard calculates the student's age, it will round up on months and year. For example, if the student is 4 years + 8 months +20 days (56 months) old at time of service, then the age will round up to 4 years+9 months (57 months) old. This is consistent with most standardized tests.
The age of the child (in months) will tell the OT Wizard which question to start on. You many manually override and go to any question of your choice. However, for domains that have milestones ( "48mo", etc in a bubble), the OT Wizard will start at a question that is about 3-6 months BELOW the current age of the child. It will guide you through the questions based on basal/ceiling logic. This means that it will continue asking questions until the child has reached the "ceiling" (meaning they fail at a certain percent) and then will also stop asking easier questions at their "basal" (achieved once a child has mastered a certain number of consecutive questions in a row). Some evaluations /screenings have different basal/ceiling logic.
If you skip too many questions in a domain then the results will not have interpretive ability (due to limited data). However, if you allow OT Wizard to move through the questions with the ceiling /basal logic then it will leave the domain when enough data has been gathered. You'll see the logic by looking at the icons (on screen and at the very bottom of the questions) :
So in the example above, the questions with the orange circle were auto skipped due to the basal being established. The green checkmarks mean that the question was answered (it doesn't mean it was correct or incorrect. When you see the red square, that means those questions were skipped due to the ceiling rule. All of this means saved time and efficiency. 🪄
